10/31 Group Discussion After Tutorial - Attention
We totally have three ideas at this time, hallucination, psychology, and perception. We all think the three aspects are important to our new sense of identity and it is difficult to make a decision, so we try to find a way of combination.
After our individual and group tutorial, under Carol's help and suggestions, we finally find a perfect way of explaining the new sense that we thinking about - ATTENTION.
Then we did some research.
Attention is the behavioral and cognitive process of selectively concentrating on a discrete aspect of information, whether deemed subjective or objective, while
ignoring other perceivable information. It is a state of arousal. It is the taking possession by the mind in clear and vivid form of one out of what seem several simultaneous objects or trains of thought. Focalization, the concentration of consciousness, is of its essence.
Attention has also been described as the allocation of limited cognitive processing resources. Attention remains a major area of investigation within education, psychology, neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, and neuropsychology. Areas of active investigation involve determining the source of the sensory cues and signals that generate attention, the effects of these sensory cues and signals on the tuning properties of sensory neurons, and the relationship between attention and other behavioral and cognitive processes.

We was really inspired by the video, Selective Attention Test, which was shared by Carol.
From this, attention also means particular blindness and ignore something in some reasons. We thought about magic, eye tracking, change blindness...
At the end of today's discussion, we summary our idea of Attention and new sense:
ATTENTION means people can choose their sensory perception by themselves. People have their different attention, so they also have their particular blindness, they cannot see everything at moment. People think they know everything of their bodies or themselves, but we are living in a world that we have chosen by our attention.
Therefore, ATTENTION also shows people’s mind, interests, represents your thoughts and so on. It shapes your mind, your body, and builds yourself. It could let people think about who you are, what you are feeling and why.
